Meta Title: UA Channel Strategy 2026: When to Add Each Network
Meta Description: UA channel strategy is a sequencing problem. See the published entry requirement for Meta, Google, Apple Ads, TikTok and AppLovin, and when to add each.
Tags: Google Ads, TikTok Ads

Add UA channels in this order: Meta and Google first, Apple Ads early, TikTok once you can ship fresh native video on demand, AppLovin Ads (formerly Axon) once you can fund a daily budget that buys 15 to 20 conversions a day, then Unity, Moloco and rewarded traffic for specific jobs. The order follows what your game can feed each network: enough conversions for its bidding model, and enough creative for its feed.

Each platform's model needs a minimum flow of conversion events before it can optimise, and most platforms publish a budget or volume floor that implies it. Add a channel before you can meet it and the campaign tends to sit in learning, spending money without collecting the data it needs to get out.

![Card listing the stage at which to add Meta Ads, Google Ads, Apple Ads, TikTok Ads and AppLovin](https://prod.superblogcdn.com/site_cuid_clo00o2d0644641vqp8vh8w6cd/images/ua-channel-strategy-when-to-add-each-network-stages-cover-1791803077176-compressed.jpg)

Segwise is an AI creative analytics and creative generation platform that helps UA and creative teams track which creative elements win across the networks covered below.

## What you need before adding any channel

- **An MMP sending postbacks to every network you plan to run**, with installs and in-app events mapped. Every gate below is measured on those events.

- **A named optimisation event for each stage**: installs to start, then an in-app event such as tutorial complete or first purchase as volume builds, then purchase value.

- **Your daily count of that event**, per platform and per campaign. The entry requirements below are stated in conversions per day or per week, so this is the number you compare against.

- **Your creative output per week**, counted in finished, platform-ready assets. TikTok alone asks for [4 to 6 creatives at launch](https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/best-practices-for-smart-plus-app-campaigns), and every network wants its own formats.

## Why conversions and creative decide your channel order

The order comes down to how many conversions your game produces per day, and how much finished creative your team ships per week.

Every major ad platform now runs on a model that needs a steady flow of conversion events. Google, TikTok, AppLovin and Moloco publish budget or volume floors outright. Meta publishes a typical figure and exposes the real one only through its API. Those numbers tell you, more reliably than a best-practice list, whether a channel is ready for you yet.

Budget floors alone do not set the order. TikTok's Android Target Cost per Result floor of 30 times your target CPA buys more conversions than the 15 to 20 a day AppLovin asks for, and a $300-a-day Moloco experiment can cost less than either. What sets the order is what each network optimises on and what it needs from you:

- **Meta and Google go first on reach.** They let you optimise for installs from day one, and they are where a new game builds the conversion history every later stage needs.

- **Apple Ads comes early on commitment.** It bills per tap against a daily budget you set, and Apple publishes no minimum spend.

- **TikTok comes next on creative.** It can start on Maximum Results at a budget of at least 10 times your CPA, so its harder gate is a steady supply of new native video.

- **AppLovin, Unity and Moloco come later on data.** [AppLovin's campaign types](https://support.applovin.com/en/growth/promoting-your-apps/track-and-optimize/scale-your-campaign) are ROAS or cost-per-purchase goals, [Vector powers Unity's ROAS campaigns](https://unity.com/products/unity-ads/vector), and [Moloco optimises toward CPA or ROAS goals](https://www.moloco.com/capabilities/moloco-ads/user-acquisition). Those goals need purchase and revenue events flowing from your MMP in volume.

## Which stage your game is ready for

Match where your game is today to the furthest stage it can feed. The conversion and budget thresholds come from the platforms; the one-week creative turnaround is our own rule of thumb.

If your game today...

You are ready for

Has an MMP live and produces installs, but no steady in-app event volume yet

Stage one: Meta and Google on install optimisation, with a Google daily budget of [50x your target CPI](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/9176652)

Has an App Store product page you are happy to send paid traffic to

Stage two: Apple Ads search results, billed [per tap against a daily budget you set](https://ads.apple.com/app-store/help/apple-ads-basic/0001-compare-apple-ads-solutions)

Can load 4 to 6 native vertical videos now, ship 2 to 5 more within a week when a campaign tires, and fund a daily budget of at least 10 times your CPA (use the CPA from your other channels until TikTok has its own)

Stage three: TikTok Smart+ App Campaigns on Maximum Results, [with at least 7 days to pass learning](https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/best-practices-for-smart-plus-app-campaigns)

Can fund an AppLovin daily budget of 15 to 20 times your expected cost per target event (at a $25 cost per purchase, $375 to $500 a day), plus MAX mediation if it earns from ads

Stage four: AppLovin, per [its scaling guidance](https://support.applovin.com/en/growth/promoting-your-apps/track-and-optimize/scale-your-campaign)

Can fund a test at $300 a day, or earns from both purchases and ads

Stage five: a [Moloco experiment](https://www.moloco.com/capabilities/moloco-ads/user-acquisition), or [Unity Ads hybrid ROAS campaigns](https://unity.com/products/unity-ads/vector)

Has a dated event or chart push and can track that cohort separately

Rewarded traffic, for that job only

## Stage one: Meta and Google

Meta and Google carry a game from launch to first scale. They have the broadest reach and the most mature measurement, and they are built in opposite ways.

### Meta: one ad set, three levers, and a learning phase that moves

Meta's Advantage+ app campaigns run as one campaign with one ad set and multiple ads, per [Meta's developer documentation](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/app-ads/advantage-app-campaigns/). Targeting is limited to countries and locales. Everything else is left to the model. The same page notes that Meta is folding these campaigns into its unified Advantage+ setup: from Marketing API v25.0 the old dedicated creation flow is retired, so expect the labels in Ads Manager to shift.

What you still control is the optimisation event, the budget and the creative. The optimisation event matters most. Start on installs, move to an in-app event as data accumulates, then to value optimisation when purchase values justify it.

Bid strategy is narrower than most guides suggest. The four-way Lowest Cost / Cost Cap / Bid Cap / Minimum ROAS list that circulates in blog posts comes from Meta's [general ad set bid strategy reference](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/reference/ad-campaign/), which covers every objective. The [Advantage+ app campaigns page](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/app-ads/advantage-app-campaigns/) has its own compatibility table: installs and in-app events run on lowest cost or bid cap, and value optimisation runs on lowest cost or minimum ROAS. Cost cap does not appear in it. Check what your Ads Manager offers before you build a plan around one strategy.

For the learning phase, the figure repeated everywhere is 50 optimisation events in seven days, usually stated as a hard rule. Meta's own [help page on the learning phase](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/112167992830700) is looser: ad sets exit learning once delivery is stable, which "usually" happens after about 50 results in the week after the last significant edit. The API goes further. Its [learning stage reference](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/reference/ad-campaign-learning-stage-info/) exposes `dynamic_lp_conversions_threshold` and `dynamic_lp_days_threshold`, so the actual bar is set per ad set. Plan on 50 a week, then check your own ad set's thresholds.

What counts as a significant edit matters as much, because each one restarts learning. Meta's [list](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/316478108955072) includes any change to targeting, creative or optimisation event, adding a new ad, changing bid strategy, and pausing for seven days or longer. Budget changes count depending on size: Meta's own example is that $100 to $101 is unlikely to reset learning, while $100 to $1,000 may. Because adding a new ad is on that list, batch Meta creative refreshes so each batch restarts learning once.

[Andromeda](https://engineering.fb.com/2024/12/02/production-engineering/meta-andromeda-advantage-automation-next-gen-personalized-ads-retrieval-engine/), announced in December 2024, is Meta's retrieval layer that narrows tens of millions of candidate ads to a few thousand. [Lattice](https://ai.meta.com/blog/ai-ads-performance-efficiency-meta-lattice/) is a model architecture that replaced many separately trained ad-performance models with fewer, larger ones. [GEM, the Generative Ads Recommendation Model](https://engineering.fb.com/2025/11/10/ml-applications/metas-generative-ads-model-gem-the-central-brain-accelerating-ads-recommendation-ai-innovation/), launched in 2025, and Meta's November 2025 engineering post reported a 5% lift in ad conversions on Instagram and 3% on Facebook Feed in Q2 of that year.

Retrieval comes before ranking, so an ad that Andromeda does not pick never reaches the ranking stage. That is one more reason creative variety matters on Meta.

For iOS measurement, each ad set picks one method through the `campaign_attribution` field, per [Meta's developer documentation](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/app-ads/SKAdNetwork-aem-and-limitations/): `AEM` for Meta's Aggregated Event Measurement, which supports up to eight conversion events that you configure and rank, or `SKADNETWORK` for Apple's framework. Our [Meta AEM vs SKAN guide](https://segwise.ai/blog/meta-aem-vs-skan-2025-ios-attribution) covers how to choose between them.

### Google: three campaign types and the clearest published budget rule

![Meta Advantage+ app campaigns versus Google App campaigns: structure, targeting and budget rules](https://prod.superblogcdn.com/site_cuid_clo00o2d0644641vqp8vh8w6cd/images/ua-channel-strategy-meta-vs-google-structure-1791799953037-compressed.jpg)

Google runs the opposite architecture. Instead of one campaign type, you get [three subtypes](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/15997092) per funnel stage: App campaigns for installs, App campaigns for engagement, and App campaigns for pre-registration (Android only).

The budget rule is published in plain terms. [Google Ads Help](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/9176652) says to set your average daily budget at 50 times your target CPI, or 10 times your target CPA. At a $2 target CPI, that is $100 a day per campaign as a floor.

The bidding ladder graduates with your data. [Google's target ROAS guidance](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/15995101) says to begin with Maximize Conversions or target CPA to gather data, move to target ROAS once you reach a stable volume of typically 30 or more conversions in 30 days, and have at least three to four weeks of conversion value history if you are migrating from target CPA. The same page adds a compatibility check: for target ROAS, the conversion source should be Firebase or Google Play Codeless, and third-party tools may have limitations. If your value events reach Google only through an MMP, confirm they work with target ROAS before you switch.

Google also has structural rules that are easy to miss. First, [Google states that iOS modelling and campaign optimisation are intended for the top eight campaigns per iOS app ID](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/16412940). Beyond eight, conversion modelling and SKAdNetwork measurement can be obscured for your smaller campaigns, so consolidate. Second, App campaigns for engagement [require a minimum of 50,000 installs](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/15997092), plus deep links and conversion tracking. Re-engagement is a scale-stage tool by design.

Because you cannot target audiences in App campaigns, assets do the targeting. Google's [asset specification](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/17091671) allows one to five headlines, one to five descriptions, and up to 20 images and 20 videos per ad group. Each asset is [rated Low, Good or Best against the other assets in the campaign, based on the last 14 days](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/6310436). Google's [best-practice advice](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/9176652) is to add assets rather than remove Low or Good ones, because two assets beat one. The lever, then, is keeping those slots full of fresh assets.

On iOS, Google combines several sources. Its On-Device Conversion Measurement layer matches consented first-party data on the device. [Google reports a median 19% reduction in CPA on Google-owned inventory](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/12119136), with a qualifier that matters: that result is for advertisers implementing it with first-party data who have a majority of users logging in.

## Stage two: Apple Ads, the lowest-commitment channel to add

Apple Ads is worth adding early. On Apple Ads Advanced you [pay per tap and control spend with a daily budget](https://ads.apple.com/app-store/help/apple-ads-basic/0001-compare-apple-ads-solutions), and Apple publishes no minimum spend. Eligible developers who sign up also get a [100 USD credit](https://ads.apple.com/app-store/). And Apple attributes its own ads directly.

The structural advantage is search intent. Apple states that [almost 65% of downloads happen directly after a search](https://ads.apple.com/app-store/), a figure footnoted to worldwide App Store data from 2022 and worth treating as dated. The current number is stronger anyway: [ads at the top of search results average a tap-through install rate above 60%](https://ads.apple.com/app-store/help/ad-placements/0082-search-results), measured across all Apple Ads countries and regions from November 2024 to October 2025.

That page also notes that ads can show either at the top of search results or further down the page, and advertisers cannot select or bid for a specific position. Our read: that means more available inventory, and more competitors visible on the same query.

Four placements are available on Apple Ads Advanced: Today tab, Search tab, search results and product pages, [per Apple's placement documentation](https://ads.apple.com/app-store/help/ad-placements/0081-ad-placement-options). Search results is where you start. Open the others only after your keyword-level economics hold up.

Choose Advanced over Basic. Apple documents that [Basic runs on cost-per-install pricing, caps spend at $10,000 per app per month, is limited to 50 apps, and is open to developers only](https://ads.apple.com/app-store/help/apple-ads-basic/0001-compare-apple-ads-solutions), with automated matching and no keyword data. Advanced runs on cost per tap, with keyword control and all four placements.

Cost per tap changes the economics. Billing happens at the tap, so your App Store product page carries the rest of the funnel. A weak page raises your effective cost per install without touching your bid, which is why app store optimisation and paid acquisition stop being separate disciplines here. [Custom product pages](https://ads.apple.com/app-store/help/ads/0077-create-ad-variations), of which you can build up to 70, let you match screenshots and previews to specific keyword themes.

Attribution is the other reason to add Apple Ads early. The [AdServices attribution API](https://ads.apple.com/app-store/help/attribution/0028-measuring-ad-performance) returns campaign, ad group, placement and keyword-level attribution without user identifiers. Apple notes it is particularly useful for smaller developers, who may get limited data back from AdAttributionKit because of its crowd anonymity thresholds. Apple also states that AdServices does not engage in tracking as defined under App Tracking Transparency. Of the channels in this guide, Apple Ads is the only one that gives deterministic, keyword-level iOS attribution without needing ATT consent.

## Stage three: TikTok, once you can refresh native video within a week

TikTok belongs in the mix when your team can keep feeding it new native video. TikTok does publish budget and learning rules for Smart+ App Campaigns, but creative is the gate most teams hit first.

Smart+ App Campaigns automate placement, bidding and creative rotation. Per [TikTok's Smart+ App Campaigns documentation](https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/about-smart-plus-app-campaigns), the bidding strategy on iOS is Maximize Results; on Android you choose between Target Cost per Result and Maximum Results. Value-based optimisation (VBO) is Android only. TikTok's best-practices page lists iOS Target Cost per Result as coming soon, so an iOS plan that depends on a cost target needs revisiting.

The published numbers, from TikTok's [Smart+ App best practices](https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/best-practices-for-smart-plus-app-campaigns): let a campaign run at least 7 days to pass learning (up to 50 conversion events), and avoid pausing or editing it. On Android Target Cost per Result, set a budget of more than 3 times your usual daily campaign budget, or at least 30 times your target CPA. On Maximum Results, start at 10 times your historical CPA or more. Load 4 to 6 creatives when you create the campaign.

The bigger commitment is creative. TikTok's fatigue signals are a CPA at twice your usual level, ROAS at half, or falling CTR or CVR over the past two days. Its fix is to add 2 to 5 new creatives, keep the existing ones, and wait at least 3 days before judging. Our rule of thumb follows from that: before launching, check that your team can deliver 2 to 5 new TikTok-native videos within a week whenever a campaign tires. If it cannot, wait.

What goes into those videos matters as much as how many. TikTok's 2023 research with CreatorIQ found that [90% of ad recall impact and 80% of awareness impact are captured within the first six seconds](https://www.creatoriq.com/press/releases/tiktok-creatoriq-release-special-report-with-data-backed-keys-to-success-for-advertisers) of an ad, so the hook and the gameplay belong at the very start.

[Spark Ads](https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/spark-ads) run organic TikTok posts as ads, and the engagement they collect stays on the original post. They support the app promotion objective. One Smart+ constraint to plan around: a campaign [cannot mix Spark and non-Spark ads](https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/about-smart-plus-app-campaigns), so decide per campaign.

One measurement check. TikTok is a self-attributing network, and [legacy MMP-only integrations were discontinued on 31 March 2025](https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/about-self-attribution-transition). If your setup predates that, verify it before you spend.

## Stage four: AppLovin, once you can fund 15 to 20 conversions a day

AppLovin's entry requirement is published and specific. Its [scaling documentation](https://support.applovin.com/en/growth/promoting-your-apps/track-and-optimize/scale-your-campaign) recommends a daily budget that produces at least 15 to 20 conversions per day across the campaign on your target event, and a single global budget rather than per-country budgets.

In budget terms, at a $25 cost per purchase that is $375 to $500 a day for one campaign. If your whole UA budget is smaller than that, wait.

Campaign type follows how you monetise. AppLovin recommends IAP ROAS for purchase-driven apps, IAA ROAS for ad-monetised apps, blended ROAS and/or IAP ROAS for apps with both, and a CPP campaign where every purchaser has the same value, such as subscriptions. Its documentation states that IAA ROAS and blended ROAS both require your app to be on MAX mediation. For an ad-monetised title, MAX is a prerequisite. On creative, AppLovin notes that most of its inventory is video and recommends adding playables and mixing video, playable and static assets.

AppLovin itself has changed since mid-2025. It [completed the sale of its mobile gaming business to Tripledot Studios](https://investors.applovin.com/news/news-details/2025/AppLovin-Completes-Sale-of-Mobile-Gaming-Business-to-Tripledot-Studios/default.aspx) on 30 June 2025 for $400 million in cash plus roughly 20% of Tripledot's equity, removing the long-standing conflict of a network that also published competing games. And on 22 June 2026, AppLovin [opened self-serve access to all advertisers](https://www.applovin.com/en/blog/applovin-ads-now-open) after eight months of referral-only access. The same post renamed the self-serve platform, launched as Axon, to AppLovin Ads; Axon remains the name of its AI recommendation system. So access is open, and conversion volume is the constraint. Our [AppLovin Axon setup guide](https://segwise.ai/blog/how-to-set-up-applovin-axon-ads) walks through the account side.

## Stage five: Unity, Moloco and rewarded traffic, for specific jobs

These channels earn a place for defined jobs once the first four are producing data. In our view, other in-app networks such as Mintegral and Liftoff follow the same logic: add them for a specific job once your MMP carries mature event and value data. Snapchat sits outside this queue; judge it on the same two inputs, conversions and creative.

Unity Ads is Unity's ad network, and [Vector](https://unity.com/products/unity-ads/vector) is the AI model behind it, built to optimise for in-app purchases, ad revenue or a hybrid of both. Vector became [generally available in May 2025](https://www.adexchanger.com/gaming/unitys-ai-ad-platform-is-out-of-beta-after-a-complete-rebuild/), about three months ahead of schedule, as the successor to Unity's earlier Audience Pinpointer. That joint purchase and ad-revenue optimisation makes it a fit for hybrid-casual and ad-monetised titles. Unity also [shut down ironSource Ads direct demand](https://unity.com/products/ironsource-ads-sunset): new campaigns and creatives stopped on 15 April 2026 and direct-demand serving ended on 30 April 2026. Programmatic demand through the ironSource Exchange continues, so ironSource is no longer a network you buy on directly.

Moloco is a demand-side platform. It buys inventory through direct publisher integrations and more than 35 exchange connections, and bids using conversion data from your MMP. Its CARA system, [according to Moloco](https://www.moloco.com/technology/moloco-ads/cara), learns from more than 6 billion events a day and deploys retrained models as often as every two hours; both are Moloco's own figures. The entry point is published too: most campaigns begin with an experiment at a [minimum daily budget of $300](https://www.moloco.com/capabilities/moloco-ads/user-acquisition). Moloco rewards a clean event schema and a test window long enough for the model to learn.

Rewarded and incentivised traffic runs on cost-per-engagement pricing, where you pay only when a user completes a defined in-app event rather than on install. No platform gate applies here; the test is whether you have a dated job for it. Legitimate ones are event spikes, chart pushes, and ad-monetised titles where playtime generates revenue before any milestone fires. Handle it with care on two fronts. Track incent cohorts separately from day one, because blending them corrupts both datasets. And be sceptical of comparative claims. We could not find a recent, rigorous, publicly available study comparing incentivised and non-incentivised retention or LTV, so treat any specific figure you are quoted as directional until your own cohort data confirms it.

## Each new channel adds creative work

![Radial diagram showing the creative demands each additional ad channel creates](https://prod.superblogcdn.com/site_cuid_clo00o2d0644641vqp8vh8w6cd/images/ua-channel-strategy-in-2026-when-to-add-each-ad-ne-image-4-1787726377131-compressed.jpg)

Adding a channel adds more creative work than media-buying work, and creative is usually what limits how many channels a team can run.

Each network has its own formats, hook conventions and fatigue curve. Google wants enough images and videos to fill each ad group's slots. TikTok wants native vertical video at launch and a fresh batch each time a campaign tires. AppLovin leans on video and playables. Apple Ads rewards custom product pages matched to keyword themes. On Meta, every new ad restarts learning for its ad set, so refreshes need planning.

The volume this implies is large. Top gaming advertisers now produce [2,400 to 2,600 creative variations per quarter, up 25% to 30% year over year](https://www.appsflyer.com/company/newsroom/pr/gaming-marketing/), according to AppsFlyer's analysis of about 9,600 gaming apps. That is the operating tempo of the teams you are bidding against.

So the sequencing question is also a resourcing question. A channel you cannot supply with fresh creative will decay however well you set it up. Somewhere around the fourth network, tracking which creative elements are working, and which have fatigued, tends to outgrow a spreadsheet. [Segwise](https://segwise.ai/solutions/mobile-gaming) uses [multimodal AI to tag creative elements](https://segwise.ai/features/creative-tagging) across Meta, Google, TikTok, Snapchat, AppLovin Ads (Axon), Unity, Mintegral, Moloco and Liftoff, and joins them with data from all five MMPs it supports (AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch, Singular and Kochava), so cross-network creative patterns stay visible as the channel count grows. Our [creative tagging guide](https://segwise.ai/blog/creative-tagging-guide) explains how element-level tags work.

## How to tell whether a new channel is working

Before launch, write down four things: the optimisation event, the platform's published gate, how long you will wait before judging, and what result would make you stop. Then stick to those decisions.

**Leave it alone through learning.** Early costs are the model exploring. Google [warns](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/9176652) that CPI can look inflated in the first few days, or even weeks, because of conversion delay. Edits during this window restart the process you are paying for. Here are each platform's published waits and change limits.

Platform

Wait before judging

How big a change, and how often

**Google App campaigns**

[Per Google's target ROAS guidance: evaluate on a 14 to 30-day window, leaving out the most recent days; a major change triggers a 7 to 14-day learning phase](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/15995101)

[Change budgets or targets at most once every 1 to 2 weeks, and keep target moves within plus or minus 15 to 20%](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/15995101); [avoid budget or CPI changes above 20%](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/9176652)

**Meta**

[Until about 50 results in the week after the last significant edit](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/112167992830700), or your [ad set's own threshold](https://developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/reference/ad-campaign-learning-stage-info/)

[No published percentage; $100 to $101 is unlikely to reset learning, $100 to $1,000 may](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/316478108955072). Our rule of thumb: borrow Google's 20% ceiling

**TikTok Smart+ App**

[At least 7 days to pass learning; 7 days for delayed postbacks before reviewing Target Cost per Result; 3 days after adding creatives or budget](https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/best-practices-for-smart-plus-app-campaigns)

[Keep the same creative-to-budget ratio as you scale; add 2 to 5 creatives rather than deleting existing ones](https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/best-practices-for-smart-plus-app-campaigns)

**Apple Ads**

No published learning phase or wait; judge on keyword-level cost per tap and cost per install from your MMP

[No published step size; Advanced has no budget maximum](https://ads.apple.com/app-store/help/apple-ads-basic/0001-compare-apple-ads-solutions)

**AppLovin**

[No published wait; judge once the budget is delivering 15 to 20 conversions a day](https://support.applovin.com/en/growth/promoting-your-apps/track-and-optimize/scale-your-campaign)

[No published step size; raise budget once the campaign meets its goals](https://support.applovin.com/en/growth/promoting-your-apps/track-and-optimize/scale-your-campaign)

**Compare cohorts with your existing channels rather than with public benchmarks.** Public benchmarks mislead because sample composition drives them. [GameAnalytics' 2026 benchmarks](https://www.gameanalytics.com/reports/2026-mobile-pc-gaming-benchmarks), drawn from more than 16,000 mobile games, put median day-one retention around 22% and median day-seven retention just under 4%, while the top 10% of games reach about 40% and 11% to 12%. Those medians include the entire long tail. Your own channel-to-channel comparison is the more useful yardstick.

**Build a separate LTV model per channel.** A Meta model will not transfer to AppLovin. The audiences behave differently, the inventory is different, and the monetisation mix is different. Validate against actual day-30 cohort data before scaling budget.

**Separate stabilising from decaying.** Telling "this channel is still settling" from "this channel's creative is fatiguing" gets harder with every network you add. [Segwise's fatigue tracking](https://segwise.ai/features/fatigue-tracking) lets you set your own thresholds, such as a 20% ROAS decline over seven days, so that call becomes an alert. For the signals to watch by hand, see our [creative fatigue guide](https://segwise.ai/blog/creative-fatigue-management-ad-performance).

**Kill channels that miss, and record why.** Write down what you tested and why it did not work, so the next person who raises the channel starts from evidence.

## The bottom line

Add a channel only when your game can feed it: enough conversions for its bidding model, and enough creative for its feed. In practice that means:

- **Meta and Google first,** with an MMP sending postbacks to both.

- **Apple Ads early,** because it is the lowest-commitment channel to add.

- **TikTok** once you can ship fresh native video within a week.

- **AppLovin** once you can fund a budget that buys 15 to 20 conversions a day.

- **Unity, Moloco and rewarded traffic** for specific jobs, not by default.

Give each new channel its full learning window before you judge it, compare it with your own cohorts rather than public benchmarks, and plan the creative work before launch, because every network adds its own formats and refresh pace. Added too early, a channel sits in learning and spends money without collecting the data it needs.

Keep creative visible as your channel count grows

Segwise tags every creative element across your ad networks and MMPs, maps each tag to performance, and flags fatigue early, so adding a channel does not mean losing sight of the creative.

## FAQs
Q: What is the right order to add UA channels for a mobile game?
A: Start with Meta and Google for reach and conversion history, then add Apple Ads early because Apple Ads Advanced bills per tap against a daily budget you set (https://ads.apple.com/app-store/help/apple-ads-basic/0001-compare-apple-ads-solutions), Apple publishes no minimum spend, and Apple attributes its own ads through AdServices. Add TikTok once you can load 4 to 6 creatives at launch and 2 to 5 more whenever a campaign tires (https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/best-practices-for-smart-plus-app-campaigns). Add AppLovin once you can fund a daily budget that buys 15 to 20 conversions a day on your target event (https://support.applovin.com/en/growth/promoting-your-apps/track-and-optimize/scale-your-campaign). Unity, Moloco and rewarded traffic come last, for specific jobs such as hybrid monetisation or event-driven volume spikes.

Q: When should I start running AppLovin ads?
A: AppLovin's own scaling documentation recommends a daily budget large enough to produce at least 15 to 20 conversions per day across the campaign on your chosen event (https://support.applovin.com/en/growth/promoting-your-apps/track-and-optimize/scale-your-campaign). If you cannot fund that, the model will not have enough signal to optimise reliably. AppLovin opened self-serve access to all advertisers on 22 June 2026 (https://www.applovin.com/en/blog/applovin-ads-now-open), so access is open and conversion volume is the constraint. In budget terms, at a $25 cost per purchase that means $375 to $500 a day for one campaign.

Q: How long should I wait before judging a new ad channel?
A: Use each platform's published wait. Google recommends evaluating App campaigns over a 14 to 30-day window and changing budgets or targets no more than once every 1 to 2 weeks (https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/15995101). TikTok asks for at least 7 days to pass learning on Smart+ App Campaigns and at least 3 days after adding creatives or budget (https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/best-practices-for-smart-plus-app-campaigns). On Meta, wait for about 50 results in the week after the last significant edit, or your ad set's own threshold (https://www.facebook.com/business/help/112167992830700).

Q: What is the difference between Meta's AEM and SKAdNetwork?
A: Aggregated Event Measurement is Meta's own iOS measurement protocol, limited to 8 conversion events that you configure and prioritise. SKAdNetwork is Apple's framework. For app campaigns, each ad set chooses one of them through the campaign_attribution field, set to AEM or SKADNETWORK (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/app-ads/SKAdNetwork-aem-and-limitations/). Segwise's guide to Meta AEM vs SKAN covers how to choose (https://segwise.ai/blog/meta-aem-vs-skan-2025-ios-attribution).

Q: Is Apple Ads worth it if most of my users are on Android?
A: Only in proportion to your iOS revenue, because Apple Ads reaches App Store users only. If iOS is a meaningful share of your revenue, it is a low-commitment iOS channel to test: Apple Ads Advanced bills per tap against a daily budget you set (https://ads.apple.com/app-store/help/apple-ads-basic/0001-compare-apple-ads-solutions) and Apple publishes no minimum spend. Of the channels covered here, it is also the only one with deterministic, keyword-level iOS attribution that needs no ATT consent: the AdServices attribution API does not count as tracking under App Tracking Transparency (https://ads.apple.com/app-store/help/attribution/0028-measuring-ad-performance). Evaluate it on keyword-level economics from your MMP rather than on install share.

Q: What is the minimum budget for Google App campaigns?
A: Google Ads Help recommends setting your average daily budget at 50 times your target CPI, or 10 times your target CPA (https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/9176652). At a $2 target CPI, that means roughly $100 per day per campaign as a floor. Below this, the campaign struggles to gather enough conversion data for the bidding model to optimise.

Q: Does the 50 events in 7 days learning phase rule actually exist?
A: Partly. Meta's Business Help Center says ad sets exit the learning phase once delivery is stable, which usually happens after about 50 results in the week after the last significant edit (https://www.facebook.com/business/help/112167992830700). It is a typical figure, not a fixed rule: Meta's Marketing API exposes dynamic_lp_conversions_threshold and dynamic_lp_days_threshold for each ad set (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/marketing-api/reference/ad-campaign-learning-stage-info/). Plan on 50 a week, then check your own ad set's thresholds.

Q: How many ad networks should a small game studio actually run?
A: Fewer than most plans assume. The practical limit is creative supply, since every network needs its own formats, hooks and refresh cadence. TikTok alone asks for 4 to 6 creatives at launch and 2 to 5 more each time a campaign shows fatigue (https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/best-practices-for-smart-plus-app-campaigns), and top gaming advertisers now produce 2,400 to 2,600 creative variations per quarter (https://www.appsflyer.com/company/newsroom/pr/gaming-marketing/). Most small studios are better served running two or three channels properly, and adding the next only once creative production can keep pace.
