The best Layer alternatives are Segwise if you want playables and game video built from your own winning ads plus the analytics to prove what works, Sett if you want a service to make playables for you, PlayableMaker for a budget no-code builder, and Unity Playworks if your game is built in Unity. Playturbo, Playable Factory and Creatify round out the list.
Segwise is an AI creative analytics and creative generation platform. It plays and tags every playable and video you run across 15+ ad networks and 5 MMPs, shows which mechanics and hooks drive installs and ROAS, and builds new playables (as a managed service), video and statics from those winners.
TL;DR
Want playables made for you, with proof of what works: Segwise. Its team builds new playables from your winning elements, and Segwise is the only platform that tags playable ad elements.
Want a service that only makes playables and video: Sett.
Want a cheap self-serve builder: PlayableMaker, or Unity Playworks if your game is in Unity.
Need game video and static ads, not only playables: Segwise, which makes finished video ads and statics from your winners, or Creatify for a store-link-to-video tool.
Layer alternatives compared (prices checked October 2026)
Why teams look for a Layer alternative

Layer is a self-serve generation workspace: hundreds of image, video, 3D and audio models, style training, engine plugins and an agent that builds playables from a brief. Teams usually look elsewhere for three reasons.
Someone on your team does the work. Layer's own playable page says: "You play what comes back and tell it what to change." That is fast for an artist with time; it is a cost for a UA team without one.
Measurement lives somewhere else. Layer's connectors read Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, AppLovin and Chartboost reports in chat, and AppLovin reports cover only the last 45 days. No Layer page names an MMP, and its playable FAQ says "Layer doesn't instrument tracking SDKs." Layer itself says it "replaces the design ticket and waiting, not your ad platforms or attribution tools."
The $10 start is a meter. "Subscriptions begin at $10/month for 300 Creative Units, increasing by $60 per 1,000 CUs," per Layer's pricing page, and unused units expire with only 10% rolling over. At Layer's published rates (Nano Banana 2.1 at 2.4 units per image, MiniMax H3 at 2 units per second), 1,000 statics plus 100 thirty-second videos is about 8,400 units, or roughly $496 a month, before any playables.
The 7 best Layer alternatives in 2026
1. Segwise: best for playables and video built from your own winners

Segwise starts where Layer stops: with what your ads actually did. It connects 15+ ad networks, including AppLovin, Unity, Mintegral and Moloco, plus AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch, Singular and Kochava. Its tagging agent plays every playable end to end and tags the core mechanic, tutorial, hook scene, end card and CTA, then maps each element to IPM, CPI and ROAS.
From those winners, the Segwise team builds net-new playables as a managed service, polished, tested and delivered to each network's specs, so your engineers stay on the game. The Creative Generation Agent also lets you make finished video ads (clips stitched, voice, music and captions in place) and statics, in any language.
You can use each agent on its own, or do it all in one place by chatting with the Segwise agent: ask how your ads are performing, see what competitors are running, and make new ads from your winners.
Key features
- Plays and tags playables from any builder, including ones made in Layer
- Managed playable and CTV generation, plus self-serve video and statics
- Fatigue Tracking with email and Slack alerts
- Pre-flight Testing: scores up to 10 drafts out of 100 against your own winners
- Competitor tracking across the Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn and Google ad libraries
Versus Layer: Layer makes assets in your hands; Segwise tells you which playable elements win across every network and MMP, and its team builds the next ones.
Limitations: Playable generation is a managed service, not a self-serve builder, so you request changes rather than edit code. It needs connected ad network data to benchmark against.
Pricing: Segwise starts at $499/month for advertisers spending up to $250K/month, with a special 50% discount for startups spending under $50K/month, and includes a 7-day free trial.
2. Sett: best for hands-off playable and video production

Sett makes playables and video ads for mobile games with AI agents. It says its agents "build every ad from scratch. No templates, no shortcuts." Its FAQ says playables are "earlier in the curve," at 12 to 15 new playables a month today, while video partners get "dozens to hundreds of creatives every week."
Key features
- Playables and video built for you
- Analytics embedded inside its playables to track taps and drop-off
- Agents that read ad network, MMP and competitor data
Limitations: No pricing page and no free trial on the pages we checked. Onboarding takes "a couple of weeks," automatic shipping to networks is marked "coming soon," and no Sett page names a specific MMP.
Pricing: Not published.
3. PlayableMaker: best for budget no-code playables

PlayableMaker is a do-it-yourself editor: start from 200+ templates, turn gameplay video into a playable, or let its AI draft a first version, then change logic by describing it. It also offers a custom playable service.
Key features
- Template Editor, Video Editor and a no-code Playable Builder
- AI-generated drafts and AI translations
- Exports for AppLovin, Moloco, Meta, TikTok, Google, Unity, Liftoff, Mintegral and more, depending on plan
Limitations: Plans cap exports and networks. Essential does not include AppLovin, Unity or Moloco exports; the full Playable Builder is on Pro only. Prices are in euros.
Pricing: 30-day free trial with 2 exports and no card. Essential €59 a month (8 exports), Starter €159 (60 exports), Pro €599 (unlimited), Enterprise custom.
4. Playturbo: best for playables plus video localization

Made by Mobvista, Playturbo is a "self-service, element-based platform" for playable and video ads. Its Playable Editor builds from templates with no code and tracks in-ad events; its video editor covers AI dubbing, resizing and translation into 100+ languages.
Key features
- Playable Editor with templates and batch editing
- Interactive videos and end cards
- In-ad event tracking for interactions and conversions
Limitations: No published prices. We found no page describing MMP connections or tagging of ads built elsewhere.
Pricing: Not published.
5. Playable Factory: best for custom playables from a studio

Playable Factory's senior team will "design and code custom playable ads" for you. It also sells Ready (40+ template formats, live in 5 to 20 minutes), Flex (video ads to interactive ads) and Data (playtime, win and lose rates, heatmaps). Its homepage announces AI-generated playables, with access by early-access sign-up.
Limitations: No public prices; every product goes through a demo request. We found no page describing MMP connections.
Pricing: Not published.
6. Unity Playworks: best for teams building in Unity
Unity Playworks builds playables straight from your existing Unity project with a plugin, and lets marketers make interactive end cards with no code. Your real game assets become the ad without a rebuild.
Limitations: The free Lite version exports to Unity Ads only; other networks, Insights and Creative Testing need Pro. The plugin needs someone comfortable in Unity. We could not capture a homepage screenshot because Unity's site blocked our capture tool.
Pricing: Lite is free for Unity Ads. Unity does not publish a Pro price on its Playworks page, so ask Unity for a quote.
7. Creatify: best for game video ads at volume

Creatify turns a game URL into video ads: "Paste your game URL," then render with your gameplay, logo and CTA. It offers 1,000+ AI avatars, 140+ voices and 75+ languages.
Limitations: It makes video and image ads; we found no page describing playable ads. Free-plan exports carry a watermark.
Pricing: Free plan with 10 credits a month. Standard $15 a month ($10 billed annually), Pro $55, Max $95, Business $195; API plans from $99.
What about game video and static ads?
Layer is not only a playable tool. Many teams use it for video ads, statics and store art too, so a replacement has to cover those as well.
Segwise covers video and statics from the same data it uses for playables. Its Creative Generation Agent lets you make finished video ads up to 30 seconds (clips stitched, voice, music and captions in place), including AI UGC-style ads, plus statics, each built from the hooks, scenes and CTAs that already win in your account and exported in each network's aspect ratio. Because the same platform tags every video, static and playable you run, you can see which format is pulling installs on each network before you decide what to make next.
Creatify turns a game URL into video ads with AI avatars, voices and languages, which suits teams that need volume more than analysis.
Neither Segwise nor Creatify covers Layer's 3D, audio and engine assets. If those matter, keep Layer for game art and use Segwise for the ads. For more video tools, see our guide to the best AI video ad generators.
How do you measure which playable worked?

Whatever you build with, the question after launch is the same: which mechanic, hook scene and end card earned the install. Builders track behaviour inside their own playables. Segwise plays and tags every playable you run, whoever made it, joins the result to your ad networks and MMP, and turns the winning elements into the next brief or build. That is why it can make sense to pair a builder with an analytics layer rather than replace one with the other.
Which Layer alternative should you choose?

A rule of thumb, not a law:
8 or more new playables a month, or no one in-house to build: you need a managed option. Compare Segwise and Sett.
Under 8 a month and someone with a few hours a week: a self-serve builder is enough. PlayableMaker, or Unity Playworks if you work in Unity.
Playables on 3 or more networks, or an MMP in your stack: add Segwise to see which elements win, whoever builds.
How to switch from Layer
Export the playables, videos and source files you want to keep; unused Creative Units expire at the end of the billing period, with only 10% rolling over, so time any downgrade.
Start the Segwise trial and connect your ad networks and MMP. AppLovin, Mintegral, Unity and Moloco ask for an API key from their dashboards.
Segwise imports 14 days of history on the trial (3 months on paid plans) and tags every playable and video, including those made in Layer.
Ask for new playables built from the winning elements, and run them next to your current ones.
